Group performance - Self assessment

Grading Criteria: M1
BRIT Grade: 7
Rational: We were very well rehearse putting in at least 5 hours of extra rehearsal before the date of our assessment so we could develop as a group and work on our overall chemistry as an ensemble so we could resonate, react and move as one within our piece. We had excellent on stage communication with movements being in unison and telling the story of inter-character relationships using space to represent feelings and emotions in the smallest way we could. We used the personal skills we had acquired within the first unit of work we did back in term 1 e.g. following physical objectives. We all had equal contribution to the work because of the great environment we had created. We consistently used technical skills to try and create a macabre atmosphere for the audience and give them a sort of hopeless empathy for the character we were trying to create on stage. We were creative in our use of our bodies to create objects like stairs. We attempted to keep the energy level as dynamic as possible in places and we made sure to self-reflect on our rehearsals and reach new levels building on the work we had previously done.
Feedback: In all honesty I put ourselves down as a distinction (as did many of our peers) but after hearing comments from Mr. Rennison I decided to decrease the marks I gave our group after again reflecting on the performance we gave. One of the main problems we had was the fact we failed to noticed we let ourselves slip into neutral erasing any signs of objectives displacing the audience attention from the scene and ultimately ruining the energy levels we strived to create which really let us down. We weren't always in perfect unison with each other perhaps once or twice our movements became out of time with each other which must have been very noticeable in such a small stage space using so few players losing the illusion that we were the same person in movement, word and thought . When Mr. Rennison asked to see it again he pinpointed the fact that if we just have had rehearsed more we would have figured out these weakness though I actually disagree with this notion even though it is valid and maybe we would have but in my opinion if we didn't see it by our 4th rehearsal then we wouldn't have seen it by our 16th.
