Group: Lara's
Grading Criteria: D1
BRIT Grade: 7
Rational: Energy and technical prowess throughout with poise and dignity. Tonnes of single and group input, well rehearsed. The group moved as one with purposed and clarity. It was clear they had reflected and improve on the work they had created and they dramatic emphasis in their movement in voice that was characterised very well. Some inspired ideas came direct from this group. So much depth showed high levels of textual analysis
Feedback: Work on speech and line giving as there were a lot of important text was lost. The opening was a tiny bit mellow dramatic and drew attention to a part of the stage that blocked the view to part of the audience so be mindful of the thrust configuration. Play objectives to 100% otherwise the whole scene lacks any drive, always remind yourself you have something to lose and that the character needs to achieve this object or the world will end!
Group: Olivia's
Grading Criteria: M1
BRIT Grade: 4
Rational: Showed clear signs of rehearsal. There was input from more than one party. Made some very interesting movement and vocal choices. Worked well prose in unison most of the time. Did some very creative mirror work. Used their bodies in innovative ways. Used the stage space effectively showing relationships using space.
Feedback: Even if someone messes up the audience won't notice unless you react and that took me focus away from the piece for the entirety of the rest of the scene which was a real shame because it could have a received a much higher grade. Know your objectives, I felt slightly bored like the scene was going nowhere and that there was no point in watching as Mr. Rennison always says "every seen is a chase scene" and it felt like you were caught in the first 20 seconds. A lot of lines were dropped and it made the piece feel clunky and incomplete. It felt like there was no self-reflection/improvement on the work you did outside of class so it was about as good as it was the first time you attempted it.
Group: Fenton's
Grading Criteria: P1
BRIT Grade: 3
Rational: It was a satisfactory piece of Theatre using some good elements drama. Had some clear thought ideas. Remembered most of the lines. 1 or more parties showed input into the piece. Showed signs of at least one rehearsal. Completed the scene without stopping.
Feedback: The energy level was low throughout but it seem to even drop at some moments making the performances flat and it felt like it there was moments of complete silence whilst people were trying to remember their lines that made me completely uninterested in what was to come. They showed no consistency what so ever to their movements, sometimes they would mean to cannon but two people did it unison for example moreover this brought attention to the clear and present fact they were not working as unit. They showed poor technical skills and little commitment to the character as they would fall into neutral every time when it wasn't them delivering a line or doing a dynamic action. Referring back to the BRIT Grading criteria a 3 shows that the performance was limited in flexibility and imagination which felt is why I had to place it at this particular mark and not because the actors were bad but simply because it only managed it to achieve levels 1 -3.
